Mobile Compliance Check: Encryption on Android

In order to ensure the security of your company data, your company can configure Security Compliance Checks that your device must pass to use Venn.

If your company has enabled the Encryption on Android security compliance check, your Android mobile device must be encrypted. This compliance check is used to ensure that if someone gains physical access to your device, that person cannot extract the files from the drive.

You can see if your device passed this check by checking your Device Policy.

  • If your mobile device passes this check, Encryption on Android will have a green check next to it.
  • If your mobile device fails this check, Encryption on Android will have an orange exclamation point next to it.

If you failed this security check:

  1. Close the Workplace app.
  2. Follow the instructions below to attempt to fix the issue.
  3. Restart your mobile device.
  4. Open the Workplace app and wait for the compliance checks to finish processing.
  5. If the check fails again, contact your IT department.

Encrypt your Android Device

To comply with this requirement and/or resolve the failed check, encrypt the internal storage of the device.

Warning: Encrypting a device may decrease performance.

Verify with your device manufacturer that device encryption is supported and recommended for your device.
