Failed Compliance Check: Screen Saver Disabled, Lock Disabled, or Timeout not Acceptable

In order to ensure the security of your company data, your company can configure Security Compliance Checks that your device must pass to use Venn.

Venn has three Screen saver security compliance checks and your company may use some or all of them. These compliance checks are put in place to ensure that if someone physically gains access to your computer they cannot get into your account when you are away from your device.

  • Screen saver enabled (Mac Only): requires that the device has a screensaver enabled
    • If your computer passes this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver enabled.
    • If your computer fails this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver disabled.
  • Screen saver lock enabled (Windows Only): requires that the screensaver requires a password on resume
    • If your computer passes this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver lock enabled.
    • If your computer fails this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver lock disabled.
  • Screen Saver timeout: requires the screensaver to engage when a device is not actively being used within the number of minutes in your company's admin settings
    • If your computer passes this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver timeout is X minutes or less.
    • If your computer fails this check, your Compliance Status will say Screen saver is not X minutes or less.
Even if there are settings configured that automatically make a device sleep, hibernate, or power down after a certain period of time, screensaver checks will continue to fail until the screensaver is configured. You must configure a screensaver that meets the policy requirements in order to pass this compliance check.

To comply with these requirements and/or resolve one or more failed checks, ensure the user account has a screen saver enabled, adjust the wait time to an acceptable value, and/or require a password when resuming work:
