Install and Activate Office 365 a Mobile Device

If your organization uses Office 365, you must install Office apps as work-managed apps on the device in order to use them for work.

Before installing Office apps, you must enroll in Venn on your Android or Apple device.

Install Office 365 Apps on Your Android Device

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen, tap the Work tab, and tap to open Workplace.Android_WorkProfile_Workplace.png
  2. Tap the Apps tab.
  3. Scroll and locate the application you would like to install.
    The list is sorted alphabetically.
  4. Tap the application name.
    • If an application shares a native app and a website, you may see a modal asking you to select an option. Tap Mobile application.
      You will be redirected to the Google Play Store in the Work Profile.
  5. Tap Install to download and install the desired application.

The app will be installed and added to your Work Profile. Work apps are marked with a briefcase. To access work apps, swipe up from the bottom of your screen, tap the Work tab, and tap to open the app.

Install Office 365 Apps on Your Apple Device

Due to Apple's focus on security and maintaining app integrity, iOS does not allow you to install personal and work-managed versions of the same application. If you already have Microsoft Office apps you'd like to use for work downloaded on your phone, you must delete them before reinstalling them through Workplace.

To install a work-managed browser on your Apple device:

  1. Tap to open the Workplace app.

  2. Tap the Apps tab.
  3. Scroll and locate the application you would like to install.
    The list is sorted alphabetically.
  4. Tap the application name and tap Install.
    • If an application shares a native app and a website, you may see a modal asking you to select an option.  Tap Mobile application and tap Install.

  5. You will be prompted to install the desired application.  Tap Install when the prompt appears.

The app will be added to your home screen.

Sign in to Office 365 on Your Mobile Device

To edit files using Office 365 applications on your mobile device, you must activate Office 365.

  1. Open any work-managed Office application (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) on your mobile device. 
  2. Sign into the application using the Office 365 credentials associated with your Workplace account.
    • This is usually the same as the username and password that you use to log in to the Workplace desktop app, but it can be different.  Contact your company manager if you have any questions. 

Enable Saving to Workplace Drive from Office 365 Apps on Your Mobile Device

If your organization uses Workplace Drive to securely store work files, you can add Workplace Drive to your "Places" for your work-managed Office mobile apps. This will allow you to save files to the Workplace Drive that you create from your work-managed Office mobile apps.

  1. Open any work-managed Office application (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) on your mobile device. 
  2. Tap Open.
  3. Tap Add a Place.
  4. Select Workplace.
  5. Tap Allow Access.
  6. Repeat these steps for any other Office 365 application.
