When you install Blue Border™ on your Mac, you will set Workplace Web Launcher as your default browser when you enable permissions. Workplace Web Launcher also registers as the default "Open With" app (file handler) for many common file types. These settings ensures that when you click a link or open a file from within Blue Border, it opens in a Blue Border window, keeping your work activity inside your secure workspace.
Where You Will See "Workplace Web Launcher"
You'll see "Workplace Web Launcher" as your default web browser in your Mac's System Settings.
You will also see "Workplace Web Launcher" when you right-click most files and select Open With—both inside and outside of Blue Border.
What This Means for You
This setting ensure that when you click a link from within Blue Border, it opens in a Blue Border window, keeping your work activity inside your secure workspace.
It does not mean that:
- Venn has access to your personal files
- Your personal files will open inside Blue Border
- Your personal browsing is monitored or affected in any way
Default Apps
Because Workplace Web Launcher is set as the default "Open With" app (file handler) for most file types, you won't be able to change the default app used to open most files while Blue Border is installed. If you attempt to change the default, it will be switched back to Workplace Web Launcher.
Files will continue to open in an appropriate app—this setting simply makes sure that work-related links stay within your secure Blue Border environment.
Should you wish to choose which app a file opens in, you can right click the file and choose which app you'd like to use under Open With.
Default Browser
Because Workplace Web Launcher is set as the default browser, you won't be able to choose your default browser while Blue Border is installed. If you attempt to change the default, it will be switched back to Workplace Web Launcher.
By default, when Workplace Web Launcher is set as your default browser, all links both inside and outside of Blue Border will open in Google Chrome. If you do not have Google Chrome installed, all links both inside and outside of Blue Border will open in Microsoft Edge.
Links will continue to open in a browser—this setting simply makes sure that work-related links stay within your secure Blue Border environment.
Should you wish to open links in another browser, you can right click the link and choose Copy Link or Copy Link Address and paste the copied URL into the address bar of the browser you would like to use.
