The File Sharing Feature Is Required to Share Files.
Organizations That Wish to Access This Feature Can Contact Their Customer Success Manager or Workplace Provider.
To get started, open Workplace for Windows or macOS and sign in with valid credentials. You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.
Share a File
There are a few ways you can share a file in Workplace for Windows and macOS:
- Search for a file and select it from the results list. Click Share.
- Locate a file on the Launch page in Recent Files or Starred Files and Folders.
- Hover your mouse over the file you want to share and click the Share button. You’ll be redirected to Workplace for Browsers.
- Hover your mouse over the file you want to share and click the Share button. You’ll be redirected to Workplace for Browsers.
From here, you’ll and select the appropriate option:
Public: For non-secure files, simply copy the link to the clipboard and paste into an email.
Tracked: See the recipient's mobile number in the Activity Log. This is a helpful feature when collaborating with co-workers and clients.
Private: Use this link for sensitive documents.
Copy the link to the clipboard and share it via email, chat, SMS, or whatever other method you prefer.
NOTE: Depending on your company's configuration, Public sharing might be disabled, or file sharing might be turned off completely. Please contact your Company Manager for more information.
View your shared files
Click the icon, which takes you to Workplace for Browsers. Select Shared files in the left sidebar to see all of your shared files.
View the activity of a shared file
- In Workplace for Browsers> Shared files, click the Linked icon next to the file you want to view.
- Select View Activity.
- You will see all activity for the shared file.
Stop sharing a file
- In Workplace for Browsers> Shared files, click the X icon next to the file you no longer want to share.
- Click Break link in the popup window to stop sharing the file.
