Let's get you set up with Workplace! Before we begin, you'll need to have your laptop or desktop computer and your smart phone, powered on and ready to go.
Workplace requires you to sign in at all times using two-factor authentication:
- The first factor is your username and password, which you'll create in a moment.
- The second factor is a Sign In verification. A smartphone with the Workplace app installed will always be needed to sign into Workplace.
If you do not have a smartphone, your Company Manager will grant you a one time access to Workplace, but a smartphone will be required for all future sign-ins.
Let's get started!
Set up Workplace
- Setting up Workplace begins by clicking on a link provided to you via email invitation by your Company Manager.
You'll be redirected to the Workplace web app splash screen. Here you'll be informed of the onboarding process, which takes approximately 10 minutes, and will include installing Workplace on your computer, creating your Workplace account, and setting up Workplace for your mobile device. - Click Get started.
- Enter your work email address and click Continue.
- Workplace will send a verification code to your smartphone using the mobile number you provided to the Company Manager. Enter the verification code and click Continue.
- Confirm your name and click Continue.
- Create a Password and click Set password.
- Enter your mobile number to get Workplace on your smartphone. This is required for sign-in verification.
- The next screen describes how you'll continue onboarding Workplace on your mobile device.
- On your mobile device, tap the SMS link, which will automatically open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play store (Android).
iOS
- In the App Store, tap Get in the App Store. You may need to enter your Apple ID credentials to verify the download.
- Tap Open to open Workplace.
- Enter your Username (email address) and Password you just created and Sign In.
- Tap Allow Notifications.
- Create a work pin and enable biometric authentication.
- The next screen confirms your mobile device was successfully linked to Workplace. Tap Continue to Workplace for iOS.
Android

- In the Google Play store, tap Install.
- Tap Open to open Workplace.
- Enter your Username (email address) and Password you just created and Sign In.
- Tap Got It to allow notifications.
- Create a work pin.

On your computer you will see the final onboarding steps. As long as your device is compliant, you will see a final screen indicating that onboarding Workplace is complete. Click here if to learn about failed security checks.
- Close the browser tab.
Now that your onboarding is complete, the system automatically opens Workplace for Windows and Mac, where you're already signed in. The Launch page has your preconfigured web apps, and possibly your Company Folder, Personal Folder (your name), and files, in the Starred websites and Starred files and folders sections.
Troubleshooting Failed Security Checks
Recommended
If for any reason you fail Recommended security checks during onboarding, you will see a screen that gives you options to fix the issue immediately or guidance on how to remediate the issue. Also, depending on your company's compliance policy, you might be able to click Continue and fix the issues at a later time.
Required
If for any reason you fail Required security checks during onboarding, you will see a screen that gives you options to fix the issue immediately or guidance on how to remediate the issue.
- Strict mode: If you do not fix the issue immediately, you will not be able to connect to Workplace until your device is compliant.
- Balanced mode: You can continue to onboard if your device is out of compliance. You will work in a hosted environment until you resolve your compliance issues.
