E:103.01 - Workplace for Windows and macOS: Overview

Workplace for Windows and macOS is a great way to start your workday. All of your files, folders, and websites are available all in one place.

To get started, open Workplace for Windows or macOS and sign in with valid credentials. You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.

Workplace for Windows

On the main page, or Launch page, of Workplace for Windows, all of your most important websites, files, and folders are under the Starred Apps & Websites and Starred Files and Folders sections.

Take a moment to click each quick link on the left sidebar, starting at the top-left of the window:

  1. View menu Hamburger_menu_icon.png: To change your viewing preference, you can toggle back and forth on the hamburger menu to show icons with text, or icons only.
  2. Search: Use search to quickly access your work and company directory. Learn more in Searching in Workplace for Windows and macOS.
  3. Launch: The Launch Page has all of your favorite websites, files and folders front and center.
  4. Recently Synced Files shows you up-to-date status on files you've worked on locally that have synced to the workplace cloud.
  5. Apps: These are company-managed apps assigned to you, such as Office apps and Zoom.
  6. Websites: All of your Websites, including accounts and bookmarks, are located in this section.
  7. Connectivity Status: If your applications are feeling sluggish, click to view the health of your internet connection. You can also provide logs to your IT department if an issue persists.
  8. Compliance Status: Click to see which checks your computer has passed or failed, and if necessary, take action to fix them.
  9. Settings: Click Settings_gear_icon.png Settings to:
    • Sign out of Workplace
    • Check for updates and application version
    • Set a Workplace shortcut that will bring Workplace to the front
    • Download logs for troubleshooting
  10. File Manager: Click the Folder_icon.png icon to open File Manager and access your Workplace drive.
  11. Workplace for Browsers: Click the Globe_icon.png icon to launch Workplace in your default browser.
  12. Help: Click the Help_icon.png icon to access the Venn Help Center or to contact Support.

To sign out in Windows, simply click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the Workplace window or click Settings and select Sign out. You will learn more about signing out in an upcoming module.

Workplace for macOS

On the main page, or Launch page, of Workplace for Windows, all of your most important websites, files, and folders are under the Starred Apps & Websites and Starred Files and Folders sections.

  2. Launch: The Launch Page has all of your favorite websites, files and folders front and center.
  3. Recently Synced Files shows you up-to-date status on files you've worked on locally that have synced to the workplace cloud.
  4. Apps: These are company-managed apps assigned to you, such as Office apps and Zoom.
  5. Websites: Launch your bookmarks and accounts, and star your favorites to add them to the Launch Page.
  6. Connectivity Status: If your device is feeling sluggish, click to view the health of your internet connection. You can also provide logs to your IT department if an issue persists.
  7. Compliance Status: Click to see which checks your computer has passed or failed, and if necessary, take action to fix them.

In the top-right of the window you will find more links to your work and resources:

  1. Finder: Click the Hard_drive_icon.png icon to open Finder and quickly access your files and folders in the Workplace drive.
  2. Workplace for Browser: Click the Globe_icon.png icon to launch Workplace in your default browser.
  3. Settings: Click the Settings_gear_icon.png icon to:
    • Sign out of Workplace
    • Set a Workplace shortcut that will bring Workplace to the front
    • Enable Workplace to automatically at login
    • Enable or change your file sync settings
    • Check for updates and application version
    • Download logs for troubleshooting
  4. Help: Click the Help_icon.png icon to access the Venn Help Center or to contact Support.

To sign out of Workplace for macOS, either quit from the Workplace menu or click the Settings_gear_icon.png icon and select Sign out.You will learn more about signing out in an upcoming module.
