Accessing and Saving Files and Folders on Your Computer

The On-Demand Work Folders Feature Is Required.
Organizations that wish to access this feature can contact their customer success manager or workplace provider.

With On-Demand Work Folders, you can access your Workplace files using your computer's native file management software, such as File Explorer in Windows or Finder in macOS.

Accessing Files and Folders on Windows

  1. Open Workplace for Windows and sign in with valid credentials.
    You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.
  2. Click on the Workplace Drive icon to open Workplace Drive.
    Workplace will open the Workplace file system in the Windows File Explorer.

  3. Navigate to the file location and double-click the file to open the file.
    Workplace will download the file from the cloud and open it with the appropriate application on your computer.

  4. Save your changes.
    Any changes to a file will auto-sync with the cloud while you are connected to the internet.  When offline, your current version will sync the next time you are connected online.
  5. Click Recently synced in Workplace for Windows to see all recently synced files.

  6. You can choose to keep my synced files when signing out of Workplace.  This will keep the files on your computer so that you don't have to re-download them.

Accessing Files and Folders on macOS

  1. Open Workplace For Mac and sign in with valid credentials.
    You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.
  2. Click on the Workplace Drive icon to open Workplace Drive.
    Workplace will open the Workplace file system in Finder.

  3. Navigate to the file location and double-click the file to open the file.

Sync Files and Folders Automatically at Launch

Automatic File and Folder Syncing at Launch is Only Available for Workplace for Mac.

Workplace for Mac can automatically synchronize specific files and folders with the cloud when Workplace launches.

Select Files and Folders to Automatically Sync via Finder

  1. Open Workplace for Mac and sign in with valid credentials.
    You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.
  2. Open a new Finder window and click the workplace_ drive in the sidebar.

  3. Select the circle to the right of the file or folder you’d like to sync or no longer wish to sync.

    • If you see a green check check_success_2x.png next to a folder or file - The file will be synced
    • If you see a grey cloud icon-hostedapp_3x.png next to a folder or file - The file will NOT be synced.
  4. Click the Workplace button in the top right of the Finder Window and check or uncheck Sync.

Select Files and Folders to Automatically Sync via Sync Settings

  1. Open Workplace for Mac and sign in with valid credentials.
    You may be required to verify the sign-in by completing the multi-factor authentication on your mobile device.
  2. Click the Preferences icon in the top right of the Workplace for Mac interface.

  3. Click on the Sync Settings tab.
  4. Check each file or folder you’d like to sync or deselect it for items you don’t want to sync any longer.

  5. Click Apply.
  6. In the workplace_ drive, you should be able to see the selected files or folders update based on your Sync selection.
