Known Limitations
Windows
- Claude's "computer use" feature (letting Claude take over and directly control the computer) isn't supported yet and won't currently work.
- After installing a Claude update, clicking Relaunch can sometimes launch Claude outside Blue Border instead of back inside it. Our team is actively investigating the cause.
- Applications installed only for the current user (not All Users) may not be accessible from inside Blue Border, specifically anything installed under
AppData\RoamingorAppData\Localrather thanProgram Files. - Recent messages may not show up in search right away because Claude's in-app chat search can take longer to index a newly sent message inside Blue Border.
- Some users may see errors like "failure to set VHDX path" or "failure to start Claude's workspaces." This affects Claude's VM-backed features specifically, including code execution, file read/write/search/edit, and terminal execution. A fix is currently in testing.
- Some users may see a Claude update appear to hang indefinitely on "Installing Updates" with a spinning progress icon. A fix for this is currently in testing. In the meantime, quitting and relaunching Claude typically clears it.
- After a Blue Border update, Claude may briefly stop showing as installed even though it's already on your device. Signing out of Blue Border and back in resolves this.
- After installing Claude, it may take a couple of minutes for its icon to appear in the app list and for the install button to switch to Launch. Refreshing the view usually clears this up.
- Some users have seen their Cowork and Code chat history reset after signing back into Claude. We're investigating the cause.
- The Claude Agent plugin for PyCharm doesn't currently install successfully inside Blue Border.
- Claude Code installed via
npmorwingetoutside Blue Border isn't accessible from inside it. Use the standalone installer from claude.com/download instead.
macOS
- After updating Claude inside Blue Border and relaunching, Claude may open outside Blue Border instead of back inside it. Our team is actively investigating the cause.
- Some Mac users may see an error when asking Cowork to create an artifact. As a workaround, ask Cowork to save the output as a file instead — we're actively working on a fix.
- Profile isolation for the Claude desktop app is rolling out on macOS between August 14 and August 31, 2026. Anyone who used the Claude desktop app inside Blue Border on a Mac before this rolls out will have Claude app data stored locally on their device. The next time they launch Claude inside Blue Border on their Mac, they'll need to sign in again, and they may notice that their Cowork and Code history inside Blue Border is missing. These users can follow the steps below to restore their history and settings.
-
