How to Locate Windows and Mac Identifiers

When adding or configuring an app in Venn, you must include the Windows and/or Mac Identifier so that Venn can launch the app when end users click on it from Workplace. If the app has multiple identifiers, include all of them separated by commas.

Windows App Identifiers

The Windows App Identifier is the Windows Application User Model ID (AUMID, also known as AppId) for the app.

A few things to note about Windows App Identifiers:

  • The App Identifier can be a shortcut name or executable name.
  • For ClickOnce applications, specify the full URL.
  • Specifying the application path will not work as the Windows App Identifier.
  • Venn locates the .LNK shortcut file in these locations: Desktop, AppData, Start menu.

Mac App Identifiers

The Mac App Identifier is the macOS package name, or the name used for the application bundle.

Navigate to the page in these instructions and copy the app’s Name & Extension for an application downloaded on your device.
