Blue Border for Mac

New

On Mac, Blue Border now lets you choose which browser opens links inside Blue Border (Chrome or Edge) and which browser opens links outside Blue Border (any browser installed on your device). Previously this was fixed and not user-configurable.

You'll find the new setting under the new Default Browsers tab in Blue Border Settings on Mac.

Enhancement

Enabling Blue Border permissions on macOS as part of new user onboarding is now easier than ever! Based on user feedback, we made key improvements to the tour like replacing hard-to-follow GIFs with annotated screenshots, fitting each step in the window without scrolling, and using plain-language step titles with details tucked behind info icons.

Redesigned Mac onboarding permissions tour

New

Work password storage permission

For users on macOS 26.6 or later, Blue Border now includes a new step in the permissions guide that allows Venn to set up secure storage for their work passwords. Users will be prompted to enter their Mac password during this step so Venn can set up this secure storage. Venn does not store this password or access users' personal passwords.

Enhancement

Smoother onboarding

We've improved the onboarding experience to handle many more unique device setups, so getting started is faster and more reliable. Additionally, the first session after install — which does a lot of one-time setup behind the scenes — now completes several times faster.

Enhancement

More responsive work apps

We've optimized how Blue Border identifies the files and folders it protects, which reduces CPU load and keeps your work apps responsive day to day.

Preparing to rebuild the app on a more modern foundation

We're laying the groundwork to move Blue Border to a 64-bit architecture on Windows. In this release, the app's Registry handling now supports both 32-bit and 64-bit views to keep everything backward compatible during the transition, and third-party libraries are being updated for 64-bit and .NET 8 compatibility so those larger changes can happen without disrupting existing functionality.
