Venn Network Connectivity Overview

Venn’s Blue Border™ encrypts and secures traffic between external networks and the work-related apps and websites your users launch from Venn.

Venn Data Flow

With Venn installed on their device, each user’s personal web traffic follows the normal path to connect with the public internet. Neither you nor Venn has access to this activity.

When the user opens work applications, websites, and files from the Venn Launcher, they are working within a company-controlled Secure Enclave installed on the user’s PC or Mac, where all data is encrypted and access is managed. The user’s work-related computer usage happens within Venn’s Secure Enclave within the user’s network, represented to the user by the blue border. Work-related app and web traffic is encrypted and passes through a Private Company Gateway (PCG) that Venn sets up for each customer when being routed to and from external networks such as the public internet or the company’s corporate network.

Private Company Gateway

The Private Company Gateway (PCG) ensures that web traffic from applications, websites, and files open in Blue Border is encrypted and secure when being routed to and from external networks such as the public internet or the company’s corporate network.

Each company's Private Company Gateway uses a set of fixed public IP addresses for all work within Blue Border. As a Company Manager, you can view your assigned IP addresses and manage your network resources on the Private Company Gateway page in Company Admin.

Network Services Monitoring

Venn uses Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD), a protocol that detects link failures within milliseconds, to send control packets back and forth between the user’s device and the PCG to detect network failures. If BFD detects that the connection to the PCG is down for any reason, Venn will automatically initiate a reconnection attempt to the next available Private Company Gateway IP. This ensures high availability and minimal disruption to network services.

Your Company's Network and Security Stack

Venn was designed to work in tandem with your company’s network and security stack. The network and security products and services that you use can be configured to allow access to your company’s PCG and Venn’s APIs to ensure that network traffic can be routed optimally.
