The Private Company Gateway (PCG) is what makes LocalZone™ secure by providing unique and dedicated IP addresses for your organization that mask work application traffic from the actual local IP address of your device. This not only protects your privacy by hiding your personal IP address from work applications and SaaS service providers but also protects the organization from attacks targeted at your personal network.
When signing in to Workplace, Venn establishes a connection to the PCG and routes all work traffic to contain it in the LocalZone™. In this way, Venn ensures that all work traffic is encrypted, protected, and isolated from local applications, regardless of the state of the local network (e.g., public Wi-Fi, private mobile hotspot, etc.), which might otherwise be compromised.
Best Practice
Windows and macOS
When you first sign in to Workplace, it might take a few seconds for LocalZone™ to start and to establish a connection to the PCG. During this time, local applications listed in Workplace might be grayed out and unavailable to open. You can view the PCG connection status of your device by clicking Connectivity Status in the left navigation panel. Here you would also see any Local Device Network issues that might need troubleshooting.
Android
When you first sign in to Workplace on your mobile device, or when you reboot your device after a software install, for example, you will need to enable the PCG connection in order to access your files, apps and websites. Go to More menu and tap Connectivity. If you are not connected, tap Connect.
iOS
On your iPhone or iPad, the PCG will automatically connect once you sign in.
