Venn's Privacy Framework

At Venn, protecting privacy is core to who we are. It shapes every decision we make and guides how we build our Blue Border technology, which protects both work and personal data on the same device.

We believe privacy is a shared responsibility between Venn, the companies that use Blue Border, and the individuals working within it.

Our Privacy Pillars define how we build our products, how we operate, and how we communicate with our customers and individuals working within Blue Border.

Transparency
Privacy starts with clarity. Venn’s customers and individuals working within Blue Border should always know what data is collected, why it’s needed, and how it’s used.

Consent
Privacy is built on informed consent. Individuals working within Blue Border should always have clear, informed choices when actions impact their device or personal data.

Shared Responsibility
Privacy is a team effort. Venn, Venn’s customers, and individuals working within Blue Border each have a role in maintaining security without compromising privacy.

Transparency

Privacy starts with clarity. Venn’s customers and individuals working within Blue Border should always know what data is collected, why it’s needed, and how it’s used.

Venn's Responsibility

  • Minimize Data Collection: Venn only collects essential data required to maintain the security, functionality, and support of Blue Border—nothing more.
  • Make Data Practices Clear: Venn always allows users and companies to see and understand what information is collected and why. There are no hidden processes.
  • Enforce Accountability: Venn requires that a justification be documented in order for a company using Blue Border to access sensitive data captured within Blue Border, ensuring transparency and preventing misuse.

Company's Responsibility

  • Be Transparent About Third-Party Monitoring: Clearly disclose the use of any employee monitoring tools that capture activity inside and/or outside of Blue Border.
  • Clearly Explain Any System Changes: If you run scripts or applications that modify the personal computer, provide end users with an accurate plain-language explanation of what it does.

User's Responsibility

  • Stay Informed: Read and understand any security or monitoring policies provided by your company so you can make informed choices about your work environment.
  • Report Security Concerns: If you notice suspicious activity, a lost or stolen device, or a potential security risk, report it immediately to protect both company and personal data.

Consent

Privacy is built on informed consent. Individuals working within Blue Border should always have clear, informed choices when actions impact their device or personal data.

Venn's Responsibility

  • Be Clear and Direct: Venn explains any action that affects a user’s personal environment in plain language, with no hidden details.
  • Require Explicit Consent: Before making any changes to a user's device Venn will always seek clear, affirmative consent.
  • Give Users Control: Where possible, Venn provides users with the option to accept, decline, or modify choices based on their comfort level.

Company's Responsibility

  • Provide Meaningful Choices: Whenever possible, give users options for security or monitoring tools instead of a single mandatory path. For example, if employees are asked to install Blue Border on their personal devices, they should have a clear alternative, such as using a company-provided device or purchasing a new personal device to use Blue Border on.
  • Respect User Decisions: If a user declines an optional action, such as installing non-essential software, honor that decision unless a valid business or security requirement necessitates the action.

User's Responsibility

  • Make Informed Decisions: When prompted for consent, take the time to understand what is being requested, why it’s needed, and how it may impact your device or data.
  • Speak Up if Consent is Unclear: If a request for consent feels unclear, forced, or misleading, ask questions or request more information before agreeing.
  • Report Violations of Consent: If you believe your consent was ignored or overridden, report it to your company or Venn to ensure transparency and accountability.

Shared Responsibility

Privacy is a team effort. Venn, Venn’s customers, and individuals working within Blue Border each have a role in maintaining security without compromising privacy.

Venn's Responsibility

  • Prioritize Privacy: Venn never allows security to come at the expense of personal privacy. Blue Border is designed to protect company data without extending control over personal spaces.
  • Build In Guardrails: Venn gives organizations the tools they need for security and compliance while ensuring they cannot bypass privacy boundaries.
  • Enable Users to Work Without Fear: Users should never have to worry that personal data is being monitored or that security measures overstep their intended purpose. Venn enforces this balance by design.

Company's Responsibility

  • Implement Security Without Overreach: Implement security policies to protect company data without compromising personal privacy. Controls should be applied fairly, consistently, and with transparency.
  • Use Administrative Access Responsibly: Provide a valid business reason any time user activity data is retrieved from Blue Border.

User's Responsibility

  • Keep Work and Personal Separate: Maintain the integrity of Blue Border by keeping personal activities outside and work activities inside, preserving both security and privacy.
  • Follow Security Best Practices: Adhere to company security guidelines, such as keeping software updated and avoiding unauthorized modifications that could compromise both company and personal data.
