Screen Sharing and Capture Blocked in Blue Border

If you are unable to share, record, or capture your screen when working in Venn's Blue Border™ this may be because your company has blocked or restricted your ability to share or capture your work apps, websites, and files open in Blue Border. Companies may put this policy in place in order to prevent company information and files with sensitive data from being shared accidentally or with unauthorized users.

Check to See if Screen Sharing and Capture is Blocked

To check if screen sharing and capture is blocked:

  1. Click the round Badge Venn Badge.png on the side of your active application window open in Blue Border.
  2. View the list of your company’s Data Loss Prevention policies that manage what you can and can’t do within Blue Border.
  3. If there is a lock to the left of Screen sharing & capture, the ability share, record, or capture your work apps, websites, and files open in Blue Border is blocked or restricted.
    If you see the "Share window..." link below the Screen sharing & capture policy, you can override the policy to share a window if needed. Learn how below.

If there is not a lock to the left of Screen sharing & capture or if Screen sharing & capture does not appear on the list, the ability share, record, or capture your work apps, websites, and files open in Blue Border is not blocked or restricted by Venn. Reach out to support for assistance if you are experiencing difficulties sharing, recording, or capturing your screen.

Override the Screen Sharing and Capture Restriction

Your company may choose to restrict the ability to share or capture your work apps, websites, and files open in Blue Border by default, but give you the ability to override the restriction if needed. In this case, you can share a window if you provide a business justification.

To override the screen sharing and capture restriction:

  1. Click the round Badge Venn Badge.png on the side of your active application window open in Blue Border.
  2. Click Share window... below Screen sharing & capture.

  3. Input a business justification and click Share window.

The window will remain shared until you close it or stop sharing. You must manually share every window that's open in Blue Border that you would like to share, capture, or record on your screen.
